Leslie Smith Frank, SEP, PA-CE

I found my way to this work through my own process of discovery. Being a seeker and naturally curious, I wondered over and over why feeling good and being good was so hard. I cycled through Western logic, organized religion, mystical practice among other things before finding mindfulness through the writings of Thich Nhat Hanh in 1993. The practices of mindfulness felt like coming home. When I began practicing meditation, miraculously, space began to appear between what was bothering me and what I said or did about it. In that space, there was a choice. The foundation of meditative awareness and attunement has accompanied me on my journey.

I became a certified mindfulness-based stress reduction instructor while working as a physician assistant. I made the transition to teaching mindfulness full time in 2009. Along the way, I learned about mindful and intuitive eating and got trained in three programs: MB-EAT, Eat for Life, and Intuitive Eating. I am now a certified Intuitive Eating Counselor.

After working with indiviuals exploring Intuitive Eating and continuting to heal my own relationship with food and the body, it became apparent that many issues with food can be traced back to trauma. So I began the study of Somatic Experiencing® and am now a Somatic Experiening Practitioner (SEP). It’s an amazing approach that brings people into their bodies, out of stuck patterns and into ease.

I love working with clients one on one, taking time to listen and being with what is arising. Since I am not a psychotherapist, I do not diagnose illnesses or prescribe medication. Nor do I view clients through a lens of pathology or unresolved psychological issues. Rather, my lens is one of inner wholeness and basic goodness-- that we are endowed with blueprints for a regulated nervous system that together we can uncover.

I hope to meet you and see if my approach, which combines decades of training and practice in western medicine, mindfulness, somatic experiencing and intuitive eating is right for you.

Payment and How I work

When we work together, you will have my full attention. You will receive the benefit of decades of experience, training and growth comes from doing my own inner work and having access to wise teachers.

I work on a sliding scale that is on the honor system. I look at what we are doing as an energy exchange. In general, I ask between $75 to $175 for a 50 minute session. I also offer 30 minute sessions. There are sessions held in reserve for those with limited financial resources. It’s imporatant to me that no one is denied access because of financial limits.
